A Arca Invisível

PT André Cepeda, José Pedro Cortes e Vasco Barata são os artistas convidados para mais uma edição do projeto MNAA Olhares Contemporâneos - Residência Fundação EDP no Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, este ano com curadoria de Delfim Sardo e intitulado “A Arca Invisível”.
O projeto A Arca Invisível – nome quase roubado a Sokurov --, consiste numa residência de três artistas (fotógrafos, ou que usem frequentemente a fotografia) no MNAA - Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, resultado de um acordo entre o Museu e a Fundação EDP. O resultado dessa residência é uma exposição diferente do comum: passa-se no exterior do museu, nos seus jardins e pressupõe estar disponível ao público durante o verão. Num certo sentido pretende abrir o museu ao exterior, simbólica e fisicamente, processo despoletado pelo acesso a todos os espaços do museu por parte dos artistas residentes.
EN The project The Invisible Ark – a name almost stolen from Sokurov --, consists of having three artists (photographers, or frequent users of photography) in residence of at the NMAA - National Museum of Ancient Art, resulting from an agreement between the Museum and the EDP.
The result of this residency is an exhibition that is out of the commonplace: it is found on the outside of the museum, in its gardens and is expected to be open to the public throughout the summer. In a certain way, it seeks to open the museum to the outside world, symbolically and physically, a process brought about by the access to all the spaces of the museum by the artists in residence.
The invited artists were André Cepeda, José Pedro Cortes and Vasco Barata. While the first two have dedicated themselves to being photographers, the last artist has been expanding his artistic language through the use of drawing and sculpture, as well as video.The results of the work carried out by the three authors naturally reflect their individual approaches, and curiously, some recurring themes.
